I'm sorry...

I haven't posted in a few days...I just have felt such a lack of energy toward taking pictures or really feeling like I've had anything to talk about! Strange for me, actually!

Today my Mom, daughter and I went antique shopping in Lake Worth Florida...in their lovely downtown area! It was really great. As I was looking at all of the absolute beauty surrounding me, I wondered about why I would ever try to create something new, or artistic. Many of you are so creative and I feel I cannot improve on anything that has ever been done in the past...not a good way for a person to feel, really! As much as I was nearly brought to tears a few times as I was standing amongst some of the most beautiful treasures in the world...it was bittersweet to have the feeling that NO, I cannot improve upon anything...I know people can do this, and I suddenly realized that I need to leave it to them!

So this has all crashed down on my picture taking (of course it might help if I had a camera that took crystal clear pics worth looking at)!

On a good note I had my evaluation at work and recieved a really nice merit raise! Maybe I should just take some of that future money and go buy a new camera.

Had some excellent sushi today at a place called Saito's Japanese Steakhouse. It was a roll with cooked grouper inside (I had not ever had cooked seafood inside my sushi before, but it was great)!

Thanks for all your sweet comments on my gorgeous grandkids! They really are the most amazing little tiny people EVER!!!

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

Here is a pic of a Star Fruit tree I saw just chalk full of fruit! Too bad I don't care for it...people are trying to give it away right now, but I find it is more trouble than it's worth! Do any of you like it???

You need to take those feelings and trash them Julie. Do your thing to make yourself happy-the hell with trying to do better than someone else. You are so talented in all you do.
Hmm, hope I didn't insult you.

Hugs

Julie, the point of the journey isn't neccesarily the destination... sometimes it's the journey itself. If you enjoy doing something then do it, and there's absolutely no point in comparing it to what somebody else has done. Of course you can't do what they did, but conversely, they can't do what you did. Creativity is unique to each individual. And I've never met a creative person who was 100% satisfied with anything they've done.

Thanks Claude!!!

Congrats on your raise! When I make a fruit salad, I like to slice the star fruit and place it on top - the shape makes the salad look so festive.

I do miss you when you don't blog. Yours is the first one I head for. In fact, I was scanning your old posts looking for a good sized head shot of Doozer but couldn't find one or got distracted.

About the feeling down or can't improve - girly sounds like you need a shot of estrogen! LOL

Vickie- THANKS! Maybe a shot of estrogen is the answer!!!

There's nothing to apologize for! I've been in a bit of a slump myself: lazy, distracted, who knows what else.

But here's my philosophy: The things you love are always a part of your spirit. You can still be enriched and inspired by the things you see around you, even if you're not feeling particularly creative. They will stay like little seeds inside you, ready to sprout in their own time. I have found out that "forced" creativity, trying to "make myself" create something or make a blog post when I don't really feel like it, is not very satisfying.

When the spirit moves you, the joy and energy of bringing an inspiration to life will be its own reward. Until then, just make sure you are taking time every day to find something that brings you joy, whether it is a lunch out with friends and family, a walk in a garden, listening to great music, etc.

Anyway, that's what I've been telling myself.

Cindy- thankyou...good thinking on your part, and I agree with you! I don't know why I am in a funk...it's odd for me...it rarely ever happens to me!!! :)

I'm about as artistic as a lump of cooked grouper, but I love to tell a story and dig in the dirt. We can't all be Annie Liebowitz. You do have talent, and I notice that you are a great encourager. That trait is a true gift.

Walk to Write- a lump of cooked grouper??? LOLOL...you are funny!!! I agree with you on the encourager part! I can't believe you saw that in me from my blog, but I must say that is one thing I definately am!!! Thanks for your comment! :)

Hmm, we love starfruit, sliced in salads, as a relish with fish or chicken, and most popular, as a juice, including mixed with other fresh juices.

Nicole- hello! Great suggestions...you make me think twice about possibly using it like that on fish...and also throwing it into a fruit smoothie...Thanks for the great ideas!

Wow, I've never seen a star fruit tree. I've eaten the fruit, but never seen how they grew. Cool! By the way, thanks for commenting on my blog. I wasn't sure what the Baby Toe succulent was called. Now I do! :)

Julie: its also nice sliced into stars and marinated and roasted or grilled, the way you do veggies. I usually do up a batch of veggies with some slices of pineapple or starfruit.
