Roses and summer red, white and blue!

Here are a few rosé shots. I see I have bunches more of yellow ones since I took these pictures a few days ago. It seems all the roses bloom in gang buster amounts all at the same time! Very cool!!!

Here are my blue plumbago, red periwinkles and temporary silver pinwheel standing in for white flowers which I never got planted yet. I need to edge around, add white periwinkles (these are drought resistant plants) and get some kind of border up. I am thinking of a square or rectangular border for a modern feel. What do you think??? This little colorful garden space is down by the front sidewalk and next to driveway easily seen by walkers and drivers alike. It is a pleasing little thing!!!

I'm on the hexie bandwagon!!!

Oh my gosh, this is so fun and addictive! I am making small 1" hexigon shaped appliqués to decorate towel borders with. Kitchen towels. So far I have completed 4, and these will be placed at the decorative edge of a black towel in a sort of honeycomb pattern. Of course this is using up some leftover fabric from my DIL's project she had done, and these towels will be for her new apt. She adores animal prints!  I will show you the finished product as soon as I get it completed. There are tons of tutorials for making and piecing hexies into projects online. The videos on YouTube were most helpful to me. Making them is quite portable, and I saw where one person was storing her tiny hexies in a mint tin. Sweet. I bought a roll of creme colored hand quilting thread for this project. Then I will sew them down on the towel using the sewing machine. If you like, you can do embroidery on them, or around them for a decorative edge. My oh my, I am hooked!!!!! Lol.

I'm gonna brag a bit about my blogging pal, Mary!

She has made the prettiest wooden cross with a personalized scripture on back, and I just had to buy it for a special someone!
Isn't it beautiful?  I love the bright colors she used.  She makes handmade toys, using all natural, food safe dyes so kids can suck on them without a problem.  She also makes custom wedding cake toppers, which I find to be so unique.  You just send her a picture and she creates the couple in traditional, and sometimes funny ways...it's all up to the bride and groom.

I sent her the date I needed this by, and she will get it here!  I have bought other things from her, and she is a joy to work with.  She also made her own custom stamp design that personalizes the wraps she puts on the package when it comes to you, so I feel like it is already going to be "wrapped" for my gift to someone else.
If you are in need of a unique, custom gift, or you would like one of these gorgeous crosses just for yourself...visit Pokeberry Patch Handmades!

Happy LATE Cactus Monday!

Well, in my case, happy carnivorous Monday!!!! A Venus fly trap for you!  And a little Tinkerbelle toy laying around that I decided to draw. Not so exciting, but I am trying to get back in the swing with drawing.  I am doing the same kind of thing each time and it makes it fun.  I draw with a pencil then outline in ultra fine Sharpie (the best pens on EARTH), and my new favorite shading material is CRAYOLA crayons.  Yes, they are just great!  Do not mess with cheap crayons...they are disastrous!!!  I am not an artist, but a kid just messin around!
Loads of love to you all,
Julie

Cactus Monday!

Today the Powerpuff Girls made a surprise sweep over Arizona to check crime levels and found it to be free of any bad guys (or girls). Thank heavens all is well!

Random stuff

My grandson taught me how to do finger weaving using the loops from the kits to make potholders!  This was fun. I finished this row off and added a keyring and attached it to my purse for a key fob. Looks like I've been at summer camp, and that's a fun thought to have! Lol!
This beautiful purple flowering tree is along a residential path I take daily. I think it must be a crepe myrtle. They are blooming right now. This one is just chock full of flowers. The color is more vibrant than the photo shows!
Hubby has the day off tomorrow. Who knows what we will do. I imagine whatever it is, it will involve airconditioning!!!! ;)

Xoxo-Julie

Let's bring back Cactus Monday!!!

This is a sign for myself to remember to try to do Cactus Monday every week! I miss it. If you want to join in the fun...make a cactus related art bit (in any form), and let our founder, Teri at Painted Daisies know, by leaving her a comment with a link to your post.
