What a surprise I had when I looked out the kitchen window today and saw some little pink things ringing the end of my mammallaria!!! I snatched up my camera so fast, and ran out to see. Sometimes my camera amazes me with these very sharp photos! This afternoon, one of the flowers had opened and I imagine by tomorrow a bunch will be open, so I will post another pic tomorrow and show you. This is the first time to bloom for this big guy, who I have affectionately named Mr. Falox! All of the others are just basking in the winter sun looking like there all-round gorgeous selves!
Sedum Rubrotinctum,"Aurora Borealis"
Opuntia microdasys,"Bunny Ears"
(Needs I.D.)
Kalanchoe hildebrandtii (?)
I have tire-envy.
ReplyDeleteYour third photo, Julie, what is the name of this succulent? This is the same one that I had a photograph of the pale yellow blooms.
ReplyDeleteNikkipolani- I hope you are talking about the Sedum pachyphyllum or the JellyBean Plant. Is a cute little succulent that has green bubble like foliage with red tips. How exciting this is the one with your blooms! My plant is very immature, and has not bloomed as of yet!
ReplyDeleteYour sux are looking good, Julie! Always exciting to see the Mammillarias bloom, especially when they make a ring of them!
ReplyDeleteThat Sedum looks like S. rubrotinctum to me. Sedum pachyphyllum has longer leaves that are blue/lt green. It can have red tips, but it doesn't turn so red as S. rubrotinctum does.
Did your (last pic) Kalanchoe come with a name? I'm trying to pin down a name for mine like that.
Thanks Rosmarie! Hopefully the information will help Nikkipolani.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to report that I don't have the name of the last photo for you...I have been half heartedly searching for the name...can't quite put a name with a face yet. If you happen to find it anywhere, let me know. I think the leaves look like little shovels! It is a darling little plant!
Julie,
ReplyDeleteEverything is looking great in your tires! Several of my mammillaria have started their flowering, but not quite far enough along to photograph yet. Next year when you come to AZ, we'll have to get together and compare garden notes and exchange some ATC's!
Aiyana
These are so pretty. I know nothing about succulants, but yours are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great time Aiyana...I would love to!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, what gorgeous cacti!!!! Love them all.
ReplyDeleteThat photo...third down from the top- spectacular. One of your best.
ReplyDeleteI must agree with your Stapeliad...those are beautiful little plants that just happened to photograph well on that day! Maybe it was the bright sun....
