Desert Rose (Adenium obesum)

Well, don't you know, something woke me up at 4am...oh yeah...the cat scratching at a door to go outside. Well, that led to me being thirsty, and then that led to my doggy wanting to play (aaayyyeeee)...and then the little rat came up and laid down right next to me and fell asleep. So, by this time, I am wide awake and ready for someone to play fetch with me!!! LOL. I signed on to the computer, and have been here ever since. It is almost 6am now. I figured I would look through my pics from the plant sale last weekend again, and discovered these Adenium obesum that my daughter had photographed, and they were so pretty. I don't own one, but maybe I should!!! I love my arid plants. Now that I have so many, I can't go back to buying any that take water! I feel I must have plants that only mother nature can take care of. It feels good. Natural. Just plain wonderful.
I am going to breakfast with my mom this morning, then to the craft store, or party store to pick up a few more things for graduation. It rained on and off all night last night, so I hope it clears up for a gorgeous Saturday!

  3. I have a couple of these. I have nurtured them from little cuttings and now they have good sized caudexes(sp?) and they flower every summer. They're usually pretty expensive though, which is why I bought them at the puny $4.00 size.

  7. No luck with Adenium--they always rot, and I certainly don't over water. I guess they are just not the plant for me, but they are suited to grow here. I never once saw a bloom before mine croaked. What a waste of a lot of money. I paid a lot for my large specimen!

  8. Aiyana and Pudgeduck- I am sorry for your bad fortune with these plants. I have never had one...but I am interested in having a plant or two with large caudexes, but I don't really like flowers so much. Isn't that odd. I am a strickly foliage girl, I guess. I mean, yes, I can appreciate a flowers beauty...but they are not really for me to have...if you understand what I am saying.
