I've got 6 yellow beans!!!

Ha ha ha! It is probably the first 6, and the last 6 as well! I planted just way too late!!! Oh well...come October 15, I will be ready to blast out my yard with my Cleomes, my red and white zinnias, some tomatoes, green beans, and maybe some more broccoli ( I had planted it last spring, but I want MORE)! I was reading somewhere about planting potatoes (which I won't), and the use of old tires to protect them from the wind. I guess you keep adding another tire each time your plant grows up too high and filling that tire with soil, until you have added a total of 3 tires. Interesting. Sometimes I get an urge to move all my succulents and use my tires for other gardening ideas, but then I talk myself out of it. Mostly because I am lazy, and also because I like my unique little succulent gardens! LOL.

Today I stayed busy with tooth cleaning and my routine MD visit. In between I had lunch with my Mom and daughter. We were excited because our Jewish Deli had cabbage soup today! Normally they only serve it on Wednesdays, but I think so many people LOVE it, they do it more days now! Yeah for us, because we didn't get to go yesterday. It was grand. It has beef in it (I know...not vegetarian), but still a very light lunch, with only about 4 chunks of beef in all.
This evening I get busy and decided to sort of make a prototype for a Halloween ATC, which you can find on my ATC BLOG. I know, it is like Halloween in July, but last evening it got so COOL outside following a rain, that I had a heavy urge to make fall crafts! EEEEEEEE!
Have a wonderful Friday!

  2. I'm thinking of planting veggies too... with prices going up, it's looking better and better... but the thought of clearing out a spot in the yard so that I can do it is a bit more than I can bear...

    but congrats on the beans!

  3. Julie, you are funny. But I shouldn't laugh because I think we planted our stuff too late also. Its a difficult thing to know when the last freeze will come in Wisconsin.

  4. Claude- I know what you mean!!! Wait for cooler air, for sure! Luckily I have a patch of grass right where I plan to plant, that died during our drought here! LOL. I will only have to use the tiller.

    Tootsie-
Thanks for the tip...I will do that today! EXCITING!!!

Teri- you are such a doll. Thanks! I fee like a dork trying planting so late...it just gets too hot here, but I sure wanted to try at that point that I planted them. (I always thought we could grow beans here year round, but I sort of got laughed out of town when I bought the seeds!!! LOLOL. It has been a fun experiment anyway! Hee hee hee!!!

  5. You're not the first person I've heard of having a tiny crop of beans this year. And the other person planted them at the supposed right time. I think it's just a bad year for beans!

  7. Where do you get all those tires? I haven't seen tires used much out here for garden purposes. Is it more common in Florida?
Have you checked out a blog that features Halloween related art? http://anostalgichalloween.blogspot.com/ I am attending Art Unraveled in a couple of weeks and one of the classes I'm taking is called Haunted Halloween, by Jen Osborn. I took a class from her at last year's event, and liked her teaching style. We will make ATCs, 4x4s and some other stuff--and will do stitching with sewing machines. Once I finish all my classes, I'll post the results on my ATC blog.

  9. Hey,

Don't scoff at those six beans. I told myself last year that I was going to grow edibles this year and your six beans are more than I'll grow this year.
