This morning I walked out to check for buds...and I found some on my white-blooming cactus!!! I think I see little teenie start-ups of some on the tips of my pink- blooming plant too! Time will tell. I gave them a good drink (they were on the dry side)...and now I am praying for a lovely show to begin!!! I think I will give them a light application of Miracle Gro tomorrow also.
Hi Julie
ReplyDeleteIsn't it exciting? It is sooo exciting to see those teeny tiny buds appearing. Thats how I am with my African violet! Love it! Doesn't it make you such a proud mamma?
Yes I think that orange lemonade drink could be doctored up..mmhmmm...and yes warm on a winter's eve...I wonder with a cinnamon stick too. Oh thanks for bringing up these great ideas.
Check ebay for those scuttles. They tend to have a number of them and they are soooo nice. I was going to get one for my mom it had a matching pillar holder and a 3rd piece I can't recall. The condition was so good too. Let me know if you do get one and send me a pic.
Have a wonderful day!
Judi

Looks as though you are going to have some pink. I have several different colors but I forgot to bring them in for their dark period. I noticed a couple little buds also. We'll see what happens.

Great plants... and wonderful buds... My holiday cactus got caught in a freak frost a few years ago and got killed off... I keep thinking of getting another one, but I never actually do it. Oh well...
ReplyDeleteOh YEAH! Congrats!!! I should check mine. HEY we're online at the same time- I just got an email from you!

Nice! I've had mine under fluorescent lights at work do you think I should bring it home so it has a regular light schedule?
ReplyDeleteNot So Crafty- the main thing is that they have 13 whole hours of total darkness every night starting around mid September to bloom! If it is totally dark in your office, like from 6pm-7am, you may be in luck!!! You could also put them in a completely dark room, or cover them for the recommended time, or longer, each night with a dark piece of cloth or just keep the plants in total darkness like a closet till buds develop. For holiday blooms this usually means to start this in late September to mid October. I hope you will have some blooms!!! Good luck!
