Well, we left Key West at 7am this morning, and got home driving solidly except to stop for coffee once, and we arrived home at 12:10pm! Not bad! 5 hours!!! As we passed through Key Largo, I saw a sign for the African Queen! I did a U-turn and lo and behold it was the boat the movie was filmed using. It was out on display for anyone to see, and you can actually schedule a cruise on it, if you wish! That was pretty neat to see. I love this movie! I got this top photo of the movie from Amazon.com, and the other two pics are what I took! I think I will definately have to re-watch it again now that I have seen the actual boat!
I came home to find my Gasteria with 3 long strands of these very difficult to photograph blooms! I tried holding a dark background behind, but they seemed to do best with white behind them. They are cute little things...I imagine they will still open up to a bell shape...I will have to keep watching! Sweet color!
It was a fun trip, but it is so nice to be back to my own little house, and my own little bed. Doozey and I wish you goodnight for today! Have a happy Friday...and remember, as Jimmy Buffett says...it's always 5 o'clock somewhere! Tomorrow night may have to be a margarita night!!!
welcome home!!! have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a fun trip. I need to watch that movie again too. I think it was about 30 years ago when I saw it, and I can hardly remember a thing about it.
ReplyDeleteI love the color on your Gasteria blooms.
What a great way to end your trip - Bogart was just so great.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home...
ReplyDeleteAnd Allan Jackson says that too!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had some fun...
Welcome home Julie. It sounds like you had the best time. How did you like driving over the 7-mile bridge? It seems to last forever doesn't it?? Good to have you back.
ReplyDeleteI would have made a u-turn too. It's my S.O. that will never turn around when I ask him to.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are home. Vacations are wonderful but so is getting home and sleeping in your own bed. Boy, do I sound like an old fart!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, how cool is that!! the real African Queen!! I love that movie also.
ReplyDeleteHow cool was that!!!! The boat looks so small to me...LOl :)
ReplyDeleteWay to end a great trip! :)
Glad you made it home safe!
ReplyDeleteIsn´t that nice that no matter how much fun you have had it is always good to be back home!
Was Doozey happy to see you?
The flowers we call broken hearts I gues, or it is something different......
I enjoyed reading about your trip. I've always wondered about Key West, now I know a few things!

WOW....I haven't seen The African Queen movie in a very long time. How neat that you got to see the actual boat used in the movie.
ReplyDeleteJulie- Thanks for visiting my blog! I live too far north to do all succulents outside, but I have quite a few in my rock garden, and am always looking for more that are hardy. I am going to put your blog in my favs. I think you know a lot about the succulents that I don't. My Gasteria is in bud, and it is one of the other kitchen surprises I hinted about. A few more days and I'll be trying to picture it too!
