Well, these people here are still sleeping (at the hotel), so thought I would post a few more pics of Dade Battlefield for anyone interested.
Here they are in random order:
This was an actual sword used during the battle...that was amazing to see!
Close up of one of the memorial markers. THe bear was thrown in for good measure...seems he is following us around on our trip!
And a far away shot...they were kinda pretty nestled in the oaks and along the actual trail where the battle ensued.
A Seminole flag.
And a replica of the one and only cannon used during the battle by the U.S. Army...it was too slow and ineffective...the rangers said that the Indians could just duck out of the way...LOL. I guess that was one reason they lost.
love dat bear!
ReplyDeleteThese kinds of museums always make me feel sad. They are reminders of how horrible life can be.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are having a good time!
ReplyDeleteHCM!
Who was CPT Fraser? Or were there lots of those? It's kind of intense to see exactly where someone died like that.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to be on the trip with you! Keep posting!!!
ReplyDeleteBrent- He was just one of the men killed who had a marker there...he may have been a Westpoint graduate...I think there were 7 of them from that school who were killed if I remember correctly!!!
