Yup...I discovered these Bromeliads blooming in the lobby at work...it is an indoor garden with a fountain in the middle...and I rarely go there...my office is on the other side of the building where the parking garage is, so I was delighted today to snap these photos with my new Moto-Q cell phone (my new WORK phone). I think they are a litle grainy and blurred, but I need to practice!
I hope everyone had a lovely Wednesday!
Omg...I just heard the most amazing singer on America's Got Talent...whoa!!! She said she had had a cleft palate and was disfigured from it...but she has so much confidence and just blew the hell out of "Somewhere"...from West Side Story! WOW!
I am excited I am eating so many fruits and vegetables this summer! I had strawberries for breakfast, and for lunch, mixed vegies and well...potatos...well,um...in the form of french fries...but that counts anyway, doesn't it???
Then... hubby (who is still off this week) made talapia, lentils and collard greens tonight! The collards and lentils were left over from last night when we had them with corn bread! Ohhh...heavenly!
One of these pics are blurry...sorry about that...it was probably the first one I took with the new camera! I am starting to like it, BTW...it is way different from my personal cell. This new one has a qwerty keyboard and I can upload my photos directly into the computer which is great. I may not need to buy a new camera depending on how this one does!
Here is a little poem by Helen Steiner Rice for you that I memorized in high school and I have loved my whole life! It is called "The Gift of Friendship"...and appropriate for all of my blogger friends!

The Gift of Friendship
By Helen Steiner Rice
Friendship is a priceless gift
That can't be bought or sold,
But its value is far greater
Than a mountain made of gold.
For gold is cold and lifeless,
It cannot see nor hear,
And in your times of trouble,
It is powerless to cheer.
It has no ears to listen,
No heart to understand.
It cannot bring you comfort
Or reach out a helping hand.
So when you ask God for a gift,
Be thankful that he sends,
Not diamonds, pearls, or riches,
But the love of a real, true friend.
What a beautiful surprise - and at work too.
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice when employers take a little extra trouble to make the workplace attractive, isn't it? Of course my workplace is a truck, and I'm a slob, so maybe I should shut up and clean it up... nice bromiliads!
ReplyDeleteReading your blog has been a great way to start the day. I just love bromeliads and the poem is oh so true. Cheers.

HUGS!
Very nice Julie, on your digital camera look for a symbol that looks like a flower, usually in an aperture mode on most cameras. then if you press half way down on the shot button it will auto focus and that's how you can take clear and great close up photos.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your new camera!
your post and bt's post are both awesome, i think you got this award from kj, but if not, go get it on my blog today.

ReplyDeleteHi Julie
ReplyDeleteThat was a great post. I do love that flower how beautiful....hmmmmm...wonder whether there was a way for you to get a piece of that plant and grow your own? Nice that you found that fountain area.
I haven't heard the video of the singer you are talking about...I'll have to see if I can find it on Youtube or something. What was her name do you recall?
Fruits and veggies I could live off them...yum! So good for you too.

Happened upon you by chance. I too try to eat as healthy as I can. I can't get past not puting the crisco in the fryer though. Oh well. As long as we keep trying. I had to smile when I read about the bromeliads. I have a post about them. It's been an evolving relationship!
ReplyDeleteThanks for making me smile.
