What have I done?

Well, on Sunday I decided (well, officially...not abruptly) to end my current job. I have been having a lot of stresses lately and the past several months at work have built up and I have become, as they say in the medical world, "Burned Out". I turned in my two week notice yesterday morning, and they asked me to take a 1 month leave of abscence instead, to give myself time to decompress and re-think. This was such a great jesture on their part. I will continue my benefits during this month, and be relieved immediately from the stress. My good team that I work on, will protect my position for the month, and at the end of the month I can decide if I will return or not. I work for one of the best companys in the universe! I am blessed and oh so fortunate.

So, here I sit at 4am, thinking about what I can accomplish in the next month to relax, better myself, think, and ponder. I hope to spend some time outside in my yard and get my winter collards and climbing green beans going. The sunshine will be good for me. I will revitalize my sprinkler system. I discovered a broken pipe in the back yard on Saturday that feeds water to one whole side of my yard. The sprinkler man is coming today between 10 and 11 am. The bug man needs to come too. My husbands car goes in the shop today and I will take and pick him up from work! I hope I can meet my Mom and daugher for lunch. Even with no work, I will be busy.

Sorry I missed Cactus Monday...send me some positive thoughts, and I'm sure all will be well.

xoxo- Julie

  4. Positive thoughts from Clearwater. Wow - they must really value you to come up with that solution.

We did have a Halloween Hoedown on KS&Co (not Ratbone, they are a rescue group) and the photos might still be under the "Dancesand Parties" tab. Otherwise, she will add a link fromt he main page to see them. We miss Dozey!

  6. Congratulations!!! I quit my stressful high-tech job two years ago next month; best thing I ever did. I now have my own little business scrapbooking-for-others and whenever I tell people I am "working," I have to put the word in quotes because to me it's not work at all, it's FUN. I hope you are able to have plenty of quiet time to think about which direction you want your life to go in, how much money do you really need as opposed to time with family & friends, not to mention time just to yourself to be quiet, calm and grateful. There are tons of blogs out there written by people who are downsizing, simplifying, uncluttering, etc., here are just a couple to get you started: www.zenhabits.net, www.happiness-project.com; you can find others through them. I write a bit about that kind of thing on my own blog, now and then, too. Good luck!

  11. Sometimes a break is all we need and other times a change of direction. I'm sure you'll know which is best for you by the end of the month. In the meantime, have fun!

  13. I think it's a good decision to take rest.I hope that the resting time will energize you. Balanced approach, which includes giving consideration to different aspects - like our state of mind, our present situation, alternatives etc.- gives good results. Finding ways to reduce stress in work will improve our life. When our minds are in a calm state, it's possible to take good decisions. Wish you a happy and renovating resting time.

  14. Ijust came in from my walk and read your post and I think-- while walking I just kept thinking--I don't want to go back. Wonder what you will end up deciding.

different situation of course. I miss my old job-- not the newer one--that ones pretty much history, but I'm finding there's more than enough on my plate at home. No wonder I was burnt out as you put it--there was too much. Hope you'll find your best path.

  15. Julie, you are one smart girl!!! Knowing when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em. I so know how you felt! Been there also. I am proud of you girl!!!

Don't even think about the job for one week and then start thinking. Enjoy yourself for that week.

Great and unusual employer to give you the time. Is there another section you could work in with less stress?

    Big hugs to you.

  19. Boy, I take off a while in the blogosphere and a lot happens! Hope you rest up and decompress because that is really the only way you'll be able to reach the right decision, especially without later regret. Good luck!
