Cactus Monday subjects

Happy Cactus Monday everyone! I am up with the little girl, early...while the rest of the house sleeps. Here are some early morning pics of some of my finest subjects!!!
First is the cactus I need to know how to make divide or make more branches. Should I trim a peice or two off the top and stick them in the pot??? Claude, I need you!!!

DOOZEY!!! What are you doing in here?

This big ugly monstrosity still delights my heart! Why? I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I REALLY need to repot this thing. If I don't go get some soil today, I think I will scream! Or cry. Yeah, that might work!!! If I don't get the soil, I will at least get a good cry! LOL. Ha.

OH...who is this cute thing????? Is she a princess???? How does this little sugar doll keep popping in here?

Well, look at this! I have a ton of new growth on this Topsy Turvy echeveria. I thought I could not keep echeverias going...but I believe I have about 3-4 different ones that I haven't killed yet...amazing!!!

Princess girl again? Concentrate on the beauty...not the dirty floor!!!! Eek!

Doozey!!!!!!!! What?

Have a wonderful Monday!!!
xoxo- Julie

  1. Love your photos Julie. Your grand-daugther looks like she is very happy there eating her cookie. Dozzy looks like he will not be moving much from his cozy place.

I have one of those intresting Monstrose also. I'm the same like you. It is not one of the prettiest cactus but I love mine too. I got mine from a cutting from a co-worker. I have had mine for about three years. No blooms yet. Has yours?
Happy Monday to you too. : )

  2. I have a couple of plants going 'crazy' like that in my greenhouse right now. It just makes you want to scream! I am holding on to them because I believe they will pop back up.

Great post - wonderful to share my coffee with you this morning to be inspired to go get digging in the dirt!

  3. Your leaning tower of cactus does appear to need help. I will be interested to hear what some expert advise you get. I love the big ugly one and of course your two little darlings.

  6. Hi Julie
Oh Emily is so big already! I can't imagine she grew up that fast! And Doozey is sharing time with you while you have your quiet time..*s*..
I will wait to see what you decide to do with those plants. I have no idea about succulents. Love to watch what you do...

  7. The cleistocactus that I sent you a while back, and badly needs more light... (if you were here I'd smack your hands! LOL) is doing what they do... The branch will continue to grow and lean... when it gets to about 12 to 18 inches it will be pretty much horizontal to the soil line, and will start putting up 'pups' from the base... which will grow up then lean over and do the same thing... the branches seem to stop growing at 20 inches or so. Seriously, if you ever want to get the gold spines and see some of the firecracker red blooms, it'll need more light.

  9. What an adorable post Julie! I love the way Emily and Doozey keep sneaking in.

When we want to propagate a cactus we just break a piece off and stick in the dirt. But I'm sure if that would work for this one.

    HCM!
