If it weren't for my okra right now, I am feeling pretty low. I feel like a failure after this last job attempt. All I can say was it just wasn't for me and there was no way out except to just go.
If it weren't for this lovely okra moving past all odds...flourishing under my care in buckets in a blazing summer (well, now Fall) heat...I wouldn't feel a glimmer of hope for my financial future. The job prospects are non-existant. We are living on one income (THANK GOD FOR THAT)...and people might think I am nuts for leaving that crazy assed job...but really...how much can one take for the salary? Am I just a prostitute for the money? No, I am not, and I refuse to be like that. I will sit under my okra plants and prepare inexpensive meals. Shop in the thrift stores, and entertain myself, and the family on the cheap. I suppose I am richer than I think...I've got nature, family, and friends to sustain me. I am grateful.
Hi Julie, Thanks for sharing your heart. My hubby just went back to work after 2 years - we're doing the same things it sounds like. I love the visual of you sitting triumphantly under your okra plants!
ReplyDeleteTake good care, Karen
You're lucky that you could walk away from a job that wasn't right for you. My sister was unemployed for several months, then last year got a job that she absolutely hates. She's single, with a mortgage, and feels her options are very limited.
ReplyDeleteIn the meantime, I know you can find simple joys in your garden, your art, and your grandchildren, and you'll be OK till the right job comes along.
Oh Julie, I had no idea you left your job. Sorry it didn't work out. Jobs are so hard to come by right now...if you didn't have peace in your gut about it then you did the right thing. Hopefully your Okra plant will grow large enough to offer you shade as you plan your meals.
ReplyDeleteDon't feel like a failure Julie. Sometimes things just don't work out like we intend it to. A proper job will come along for you. Hang in there. Besides your okra needs you right now as does your family etc.
ReplyDeleteSorry you had a bummer job!
ReplyDeleteYOur okra photos are lovely. Glad you like the taste. (not me). lol
Julie
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry you didn't feel good about your job and you have had to leave. Hopefully something else will come along. You are right its not just the money...if you are not truly happy there and its not working out there isn't much else you can do! Don't be toooo bummed out...it just obviously could not work...
on the other hand...
look at that lovely OKRA!! It is so darn beautiful. I've never grown it...yum yum..enjoy.
Feel good...have a good weekend.
*hugs*

To Thine Own Self Be True.
ReplyDeleteBest piece of advice I've ever gotten and I think by instinct of self preservation you're know it in your heart.
Now, onward, upward, forward to better things!!
Sorry about the job situation. A better one will pop up.
ReplyDeleteCan you draw us a pic of you sitting under your okra "tree"? That would be a doosey not to be confused with Dozey who i would love to see a new pic of too.
I think okra flowers are so beautiful!
Awww Julie... HUGS... I am sorry to hear about job troubles but you have to keep your soul healthy. Your okra plant is beautiful. You are surrounded with love from your family, friends, and the earth and that is the greatest blessing there is.
