I finally got a copy from the library system...and it has been well worth the wait...
Talk about some very interesting information and funny stories about all of these toxic and deadly plants! I was amazed to learn so much about many of the plants in our own backyards!!! Whoa...like the lady in southern California who tried to poison her husband by mixing oleander leaves into his food. He got very sick, but didn't die. While he was recooperating, she polished him off by adding antifreeze to his gatorade! She is on death row in California...but the only one of all on death row, who attempted murder by using a deadly plant. I've just about read this little book overnight! Such fun!!!!!!!
Now, something even more interesting looking are these other books I have just found on her website...the other three look great too! Check them out here: AmyStewart.com!!!
What an interesting book!

ReplyDeleteOMIGOD why am I laughing, this isn't funny. But then again, IT IS!!!! LOLOLOLOL
ReplyDeleteOf course she's in California!
I was always worried about Oleander when my kids were little. So afraid they'd eat some and die.
When I saw the cover of your book quickly and saw WEED I thought Oh My another side of Julie I didn't know! LOL Again I am laughing!
And I am from California of course!
Can't wait to see what you saw that reminded you of me.
Thanks for sharing, Julie...sounds like a fun read!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a cool book kiddo! So what was the weed that killed Mrs. Lincoln?
ReplyDeleteReminds me of that movie "white Oleander".
ReplyDeleteDoes your husband know you're reading this book? lol
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, my mother-in-law's Chihuahua died from nibbling on an oleander plant. My MIL didn't know it was poisonous and had one in a large container right near little Timmy's bed.
I may be spending too much time reading blogs and not enough time reading books. Don't know what to do about that. I enjoy them both.
