I covered the inside and outside with some stationery I had with light green leaves and pink butterflies along one edge (I used the edge for all the details). The doll, as you can see, is made from felt, and a bead head. Rachel had used a top of an acorn for the top of the head, but I didn't have one and didn't want to wait, so I cut a circle of green felt and gathered it a little to make it floppy. I hot- glued a glittery flower button (I cut the shank off first) right on top of the heart, for added pizzazz!

My blanket stitch looks so bad...but it was my first try. It could be fun to make a few more. I love paper and felt crafts!

We added some glitter to the top of the box, which was one detail I really liked that Rachel had done.

When I finished, Donovan (my 6 year old grandson) asked if he could give it to his teacher for Valentines Day!!! WOW...the ultimate compliment!!! Of course! On one side edge of the box I wrote (with ultra fine Sharpie) TO MRS. C, FROM DONOVAN...and the other side says VALENTINES DAY 2011. We placed it in a tiny sheer pink bag with rhinestones glittering...and what a lovely thing! It was a quick hour, while he worked away on his classmates Valentine cards...
