A Few Highlights of the Past Few Days!

I got two new plants...Melampodium paludosum, or otherwise known as Medallion plant, Butter Daisy, or Star Daisy. I found them at K-Mart...so sweetly sitting there begging me to take them home and add to a bare spot in my tire gardens! So now, they are home, and I love looking out the kitchen window seeing them all yellow and cheery!

I made some homemade bread. It started out in the bread machine, but it looked like it was going to overflow before it even started to bake, so I poured it out on a cookie sheet, let it rise again and baked it in the oven. Delicious with just old margarine!!!

The best thing of all though, was that today my old flip phone went dead, and I actually moved into the 21st century and got a smart phone!!! It is an Android, Galaxy S. That's about all I know. It was a free upgrade on my ATT plan. I was a little jealous of my kids abilities on their IPhones, so I splurged for that gosh darn data plan. What can you do??? Now all I have to do is learn how to use it. The kids are showing me how, thank goodness for them!!!

And here are a few pics of things blooming out in the yard:

  2. Hi Julie, First of all I love your new header and the plant pictured there. Isn't it stunning.

Your garden is looking a treat with all the plants flowering.

I have not made home made bread for a hundred years but remember it was always better than the bought stuff.

I thought I was coming into the 21st century when I ordered a phone with a sliding keyboard....damn thing I hate it. Need some nice 13yr old boy or girl to come and teach me how to use it. Dont know how to make calls on it and press buttons when they tell you to and stay on the line to the person on the other end at the same time.

you are lucky to still have kids at home. If you ever want to farm them out you know where to send them.:) lol

  3. Your garden has a lot of color right now Julie. I love that last red flower. It looks like a red passion vine. Good luck with your new phone. I have an older model too. It does so much more than I ever do with it. If you have young people that text it is nice that you can do that with them. Easy for them tokeep in touch. Have a great weekend.

  10. Melampodium paludosum is quite a popular flower in Malaysia. It's easy to grow and it looks really neat and tidy.
Julie, I am happy for you to start a new venture into it.

  11. When I made the switch to a smartphone, I was like "Woooow, I have the power!!" I find it extremely useful for finding local restaurants, directions, and price checking to see if such-n-such is a good deal. And of course I check blogger and email and the regular sites. It's nice to do it on the phone for a quick update rather than getting on the desktop.

I hope you're discovering all the wonderful things smartphones can do!!
