Sucky Seed Situation

Out of 24 pole bean seeds planted, so far (after a week and a half) only 6 have come up! I just tried the Jiffy Quick Soil Mix in 4 inch pots and placed three more pole bean seeds in each cup (total of 15 more potential plants)....they are on a strip of double thickness aluminum foil on my kitchen windowsill and I am giving these babies another go. I will not quit till I have some pole beans!!! Go beans, go!!!

The Jiffy Soil is really great to have around for seed sprouting emergencies...which could hit you at any given moment!!! These things are so cool...just soak in warm water and in 5 minutes you have soil!!!

I am off today, and my hubby took the day off too, so we could have some fun. Gonna take the kids and grands to a little fun rehab hospital/zoo locally, go to lunch and play all day. I'm happy!

Hope you all have a great Thursday too!
xoxo- Julie

  1. I hate it when seeds don't sprout. Annoying as all git out... but then, it's kinda hard telling what went wrong... did they dry out? get too hot? not warm enough? maybe a bird got em. who knows...

  2. So good to see yountaking a play date.
Maybe those beans need a little okra to grow with. Lol
I will never see or say okra without thinking of you. Lol

  3. Well look at your little squirrel friend:) Do you think that some of those seeds go the way of our feathered friends? My basil and wildflower seed seemed to disappear this year. So I am finished with seeds for this year and will get starters:)

  5. I had a very hard time getting pole beans to germinate also this year. I was just thinking I should plant a lot more for the Fall season.

You have most probably had the bestest day with your grandbabies and your hubby. Fun in the sun for everyone!!!

I am sure you took pics to share too. Hope you have been doing well and enjoying the summer and not working too too hard.

I also bought some beans, but I think I'll sow them directly in the ground.
