Here is a few of this years okra variety of which I do not know. If I wait one (only one) day too long to pick,they are huge!!! I just had to take a photo, to remember them by, because nextsummer I will be growing red ones!!!!
Cindy...I have never grown zucchini, so I haven't seen that, but yes, the okra is famous for it...you have to check okra daily. The really large ones are usually woody and have to be thrown away, which was the case with the largest one in this photo. It all happens so quick, and you feel like such a dope when you don't get them picked quickly enough!!! It is highly aggravating! :)

Oh I know how you feel when you let your veggies get too big and you have to throw them away. That happened to too many of my beans this summer, partly because there was just so much rain that I couldn't get into the garden for days on end sometimes! Aggravating, indeed!
You just answered my question. That is crazy how big they get. You should send me an okra recipe and I might try it. That's if I can get okra around here. LOL
HI Julie, The fencing that I am using for the Snap Peas is a concrete reinforcing mesh that you can pick up at a home improvement center. This one measures 4' x 7'. This was used for the cucumbers and we bent it in half. I think for next years cucumbers we will leave it at the hight of 7'. Love the purple lantana, hope the do will in your yard. Beautiful Okra. I went to college and the South and just loved the Okra dishes. You don't see it here in the Mid-West Much! Happy Sunday!
