New yellow mini roses, my older pink drift rose, and some hips

I had to make a run to Lowes this morning, and came upon these pretty yellow miniature roses. I bought three thinking i could fit them into one tire....but that was seriously pushing it...so only two in one tire, and i put the other next to my geranium in another tire.

I transplanted 5 purple knights into a third.

I've had it with annuals at the moment, and am aiming to load up with perennials.

Has anyone ever made rose hip tea??? I've read some about it online..it is high antioxidant. I think that the hips combined with a nice Irish Breakfast tea would heal the sick!!! I am aiming for a cure-all for myself...aching bones, asthma...those sorts of things! Hehehe.

If you are wondering why i say Irish Breakfast tea....i have become a tea conossieur...i have been experimenting with different black teas, and have found the Irish Breakfast is superior...very strong, and smooth.  This would be the best one to combine the rose hips with, for me.

Oh...my neighbor is giving me a pot of what she calls "Vick's Plant"....it is thick leafed, and velvety...and smells just like Vicks vaporub!  It speads,  and she needs to part with them...i have a picture of a small peice of some here.

I am posting from my camera, and everything will be random.

  2. I've never made rose-hip tea but, if it's sweet, I probably wouldn't like it too much. I haven't tried Irish Breakfast tea but I do enjoy Twinings English Breakfast Tea.

The Vicks plant sounds interesting. I can't get by without Vicks Vaporub for winter flu/colds.

    Btw, beautiful roses!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend ~ xo

  4. I'm a green tea kinda' girl but my husband enjoys English Breakfast and Earl Gray. Rose hips are suppose to be high in Vitamin C and citrus tasting, so they would be good in tea, I'd think. Looks like you added some lovely roses to your garden!

  6. Hi Julie *hugs*
Your roses are absolutely beautiful! What a green thumb. I have never had rosehip tea but thats a thought. You've come to be conisseur of teas? Interesting. You'll have to let us know how you are doing and what you are trying.

I hope you have had a great day..

  7. It's fun to find deals like that!
I've never made rose hip tea, but i have heard of it and thought about doing it. I like trying different teas. I usually have a cup of tea first thing every morning. My grama always liked just plain green tea. She had a special cup she used, one of those thick white restaurant cups.

  8. I have a vick's plant, mine gets very leggy and woody, I do best to let it 'restart' itself or it peters out. Love mini roses!! Also love things in tires. Just love them. Tea? Not so much. I would like to know how to make a rose hip water.

  9. I'm a serious tea drinker and Irish Breakfast is a favourite of mine though lately I've gotten hooked on a no name brand chocolate chai tea. One year I gathered a bunch of rose hips for tea but didn't care for it. I also used to grow, pick and dry mint leaves for tea and really enjoyed it at the time. Lovely rose pictures :)
