Bougainville splendor!

This was taken through my screen in kitchen window, as I was too lazy to go back out there. I had forgotten to take out my cell phone to get a photo! I was fertilizing everything as I have very exciting news about the Lilliput Zinnia seeds I planted all around in my tire garden. Some are in the 5 gallon buckets as well. The exciting news is that just about every seed has come up and I counted 31 seedlings that are about 1.5 inches high now. They are all looking pretty hearty too!  I am very excited!!!  I'm praying the delicious fertilizer will help them along! This is a mixed color of seeds, so it will be a lot of fun to see what opens up!  I will have pictures as soon as it starts to happen!!!
My blogging friend, Bobbie Lynn from www.whyilovetogarden.blogspot.com has mentioned some zinnias called California Giants! I am keeping my eye out for those!!!!  The flowers are 4-6 inches in diameter! Now that's what I'm talkin about!

  1. Well, the bougainvillea is nice, but you know what catches my eye? Your euphorbia lactea. I had one of those, years ago. I loved it. And it died. It was kind of delicate, in the sense that I couldn't stop it from becoming overwhelmed by rot and fungus. Sigh. This just makes me nostalgic, and makes me want to get another one.

  3. Cindy- please get another lactea! They surprise you with their red edges and are a ton of fun! I've had mine at least 5 years now and it has become a monster!!! Started out fairly small. I planted the whole base in the soil. It was grafted onto some other green stalk....can't remember name of it. It has done very well in full son with only rainwater to speak of.

  5. Love the bougainvillea! I had one at my last house, same color. Your green thumb is showing big time!

  6. I love bouganvilleas Julie but it js wise to have them in pots. They are so hardy and colourful, but can get out of control planted in the open ground.

  7. Bougainville just love Florida weather. I like them in containers. Will you have to repot every year?
