http://www.geocaching.com/

This looks like so much fun to me. I just discovered about it a few days ago, and now I want a handheld GPS for my birthday! If you have never heard of geocaching...check out the website...you can do a free registration, put in your city, and find some that are in your area. It's like a treasure hunt where you can walk around and find stuff. I am intregued! Great way to get me out walking in fresh air and sunshine, with camera in hand! One of mine starts in a park, and one starts on the edge of a canal. Both of these are less than one quarter mile from my front door, and they have them all over the world! One of my goals for the weekend is to check out GPS's so I can get started on this fun hobby! Let me know what you think, if you are interested.

  1. that is so interesting. Just yesterday someone in my library asked me if we had any books on geocaching or letterboxing and I had no idea what she was talking about. What a coincidence!

  2. Now, my job consists of driving all over looking for places that aren't always where they're supposed to be, so quite frankly, I don't think I'd enjoy this much. But look into the TomTom GPS system, it's very user friendly, and it can be programed for walking routes. Although the rechargable battery only lasts about 2 hours.

  3. Okay, I am going to check it out when I am done here.

I got an early Christmas gift before we left Wisconsin--a GPS and after three days on the road, I love it!!

  4. Kimmie used to be really into this. You should get in touch with her about it. I don't even have time to eat these days let alone do something remotely fun lol

  7. Julie, a friend of mine does this. When she travels she looks up the city or area and looks for things whereever she roams. She loves to do this. I think you would enjoy it too.
