I've got blooms!

Here are some of the mauvy purple blooms hanging down from long stalks put up by my Mother of Millions plant (kalenchoe daigremontianum). The bottom pic is what the plant looks like below the stalks, and I think it is particularly beautiful when it has the pink hues in the leaves...they can range from green, green-blue, and pinky purple in color, and are a lot of fun to watch year round.

  1. Mine bloom dark red... I think it's a different species. They're fun aren't they? Didn't get blooms this year though... they were budding out when a frost hit them.

  3. Simply gorgeous Julie. No wonder you are excited. Those blooms are marvelous. They resemble blue bells, only they aren't exactly blue.

  5. Claude...I think yours may be a kalenchoe tubiflora. I saw a bunch blooming in a field today and am planning to snap some pics of them tomorrow if I can...there are large groups of them all ablaze in red!

  10. I never realized that Mother of Millions bloomed? I guess I thought that it always reproduced by dropping the little babies.

  12. Yaya- this is a succulent plant (not cactus) called kalenchoe daigremontianum, or commonly called Mother of Millions! It makes little plantlets along th leaf edges, and once a year puts up long stalks with these bell shaped flowers!
