Wakodahatchee Wetlands trip

My hubby and I went to a new natural area I discovered yesterday. I was passing by and saw the sign for it, and it turned out to be a wetland area, with a boardwalk over top. It is filled with wildlife, and is very interactive in a sense that the birds fly all around and about you, the sounds of all of the wildlife is so amazingly wonderful...it is one of the neatest places I have ever been! It is located in Delray Beach, Florida. I took tons of pictures and decided I will share them with you over this week...but first come the birds! If you would like to read more about this ultra wonderful place, you can read about it HERE! Enjoy all the pictures...I know some of the names, but not many.

The birds you see walking in green pond scum, have it all over their feet. It seemed a lot of the animals ate it though and it surely looks very nutritious with all the phytonutrients!!! Such a lovely shade of chlorophyllic green! It just looks like it has to be a wonderful food source for all of them.

Stay tuned for pictures of turtles and alligators tomorrow night!

Nice blog makeover, too. Most of the time I get your posts through Google Reader, so I don't see your actual blog, but I need to come here to comment, and...whoa!

  5. What a fun excursion. I love seeing all the birds. You showed some of my FL faves. The anhinga drying its wings is so pretty and the Moorehen with its red shield on its face. I can't wait to see the turtles and alligators.

  6. the green pond scum stuff is duckweed, the smallest flowering plant in the world. Both fish and waterfowl eat it, and it is a lovely green! I'm not sure of the species, but here is a wiki page which shows you the diversity of the family. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duckweed
