Take a large Agave...

and mix it with some trouble makers (or probably just mindless teenagers)...and you end up with one big defaced succulent! I found this outside of a Mexican restaurant, and had to get a picture for Cactus Monday (a little cheat, since this is not a cactus). I thought I may never see anything like this again...at least I hope not!!!

  1. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon... usually, it's on publicly planted agaves. It about equates to carving your name in a tree... It ruins the looks of a plant but fortunately, it doesn't seem to kill them.

  5. Since there are no Birch trees in Florida, I guess this the defacement plant of choice here in the south. Did you ever see a Northern White Birch carved up with stuff like "Jane loves Dick?" (Oh I guess that wasn't such a good example was it?)

  8. This is an amazing photo...I would think it would kill the plant...breaking the outer protective skin etc...Nature surely has a way of protecting herself.

    HCM fellow cacuteer! :)

  15. Such a shame that people have defaced the plant like this...it really would spoil the look.
