This was a bitch to do, and still looks like crap! Sorry for the bad language. There is only so much you can take. I'm done with this. With love, Julie
Think of how people create music to make pictures. It's not a photo, it's not a picture, but if you close your eyes, you 'see' it.
What you are doing with this project is looking too close.
Next time, draw a mug that exists only in your mind. Or mix and match elements of various mugs in your house. Draw a mug that your chi will fit in, then draw your chi.
I don't think the exercise is to make you one of those realist artists. I think it's to open you up to seeing things DIFFERENTLY.
If you do another, skip the realism, and PLAY with the project. You might just have fun.
And your drawings that you have done are seriously charming. You're trying too hard. Put them away and look at them again in three, six, twelve months. I think you'll like them better with some time, and some distance.
well, it may have been a bitch, but it most definitely doesn't look like crap. And that's how you learn and grow, by stretching beyond what's simple to things that are more challenging. Personally, I think you did a damned good job.
Hahahaha that's so funny I totally relate. I reckon the shoe and purse sucked us in and it was all down hill from there! You mug is actually not as bad as you think. Seriously though I am sure it's part of the process. I noticed that my perfectionism became more and more as I went on with the challenge. I am going to try and get back to the " good" feeling I got from drawing the shoe.... In the artist way there is a saying/ prayer. To god/ creator " you take care of the quality and I will take care of the quantity". ie... it's not for us to judge our own work. Keep at it if you can xxx
I think it look good Julie. Depths and anything round is very heard. Keep it up! : ) Happy Friday. Tomorrow Hubby and I will be taking drive to see the puppies. Can't wait.
Hi Julie Well it was worth the language because it looks great! I would not be able to do something like that. I enjoy looking at your drawings...
I CAN'T believe its the weekend again. I am going to send you that recipe honest! Do you know I wanted to type it out and email it during my lunch at work...do you think I could remember to take the book work? I am at the lake again but I truly plan to do it when I get home...hold on to the cardamom seeds...
Julie: Thanks also to your for your kind comments on my pictures. You should for sure enter your town's picture contest again. Your pictures are amazing.
I love your drawings.

ReplyDeleteI don't think this is so bad at all. I can relate to your frustration though. Fill that cup up with the beverage of your choice and relax.

Julie, Julie, it is not either bad. You need to put your inner critic in her place and tell her to stay away.
ReplyDeleteLoved your pictures of the flowers in yesterdays post also. How delicate teh white ones are.
Glad to know the spider has departed. I cannot even stand to see the picture, even though I know they are good for the environment.
Oh gosh Julie--I've used a few odd words this week myself. There are days. ;)
