Here is my breakfast salad, minus dressing. I cut up leaves, added some hot cheese, one of my smaller heirloom tomatoes, and some cut up and sauteed and flash fried eggplant, which I also cut out this morning. Later I added ranch dressing and it was so good. I think my body is thanking me for giving it such a nutritious breakfast!!! :)

My neighbor has these red plants in her garden and gave me a few to plant because she had cleared them all out and they keep growing back!!! She gave me 5 and I have searched the internet to see what they are. I tell ya...I am filling my front area with these babies...I need this...drought tolerant and the stems and leaves are a lovely shade of dark RED with these cute little puff balls!!! Oh...and do you think these are the seeds??? I am so happy! I want to go back and ask her for a few cuttings as well and try rooting them in water...if it works...I am in for a beautiful front area!!!!!
Thanks in advance if anyone knows what it is!!!
xoxo. Have a happy Thursday!
Julie

That plant looks like Alternanthera dentata to me! I don't know how common it is as a houseplant, but I've seen it at one garden center before. I had a plant for a few years--I grew it indoors, so I never saw it flower, and it got too cold during the winter for the one plant I had outside to survive!
As a bonus, I've heard they self-seed pretty well, and they are exceedingly easy to root cuttings of any size. They have a tendency to drop leaves at the slightest provocation, but that's okay, because new ones grow back pretty quickly!
Hi Julie *hugs*
I have no idea what that plant is...probably because it wouldn't grow this neck of the woods. It is sweet. I wonder if it does have seeds in those little fluffabies?
You had lettuce for brekky? That looks very yummy and good for you for starting the day off in such a healthful way. I don't think I've ever had salad for brekky.
have a wonderful day...enjoy!
my mom is still there...maybe you pass her along the way. She'll be back the beginning of April.

I suspect Alternanthera dentata 'Purple Knight.' Check out the picture toward the top of this post.
It must be a tropical plant. Ihave never seeen it before. You salad look delicous.
Your salad looks DELICIOUS! I would definitely eat that any time of the day.
What a delicious and healthy brekkie!!
I've never known the name of it but I had that plant growing in the garden at the last house we rented. It can run rampant if left to it's own devices as it does self-seed so easily. I had to keep weeding mine out to keep it from taking over the garden. It is a lovely plant though.
That salad looks delicious.
