Succulent tire revised!

Today I got invigorated, partly because I have recieved and found such amazing Kalenchoes, and even though it is so darn hot outside, I just HAD to get one of my tires revised today. I had the time also, which is rare.

I took everything out, and decided to NOT put back in a few things. I am moving my Fairy Castle Cactus, the Thimble Cactus, and an aloe that I am not sure of the variety, into the screenroom. They were just not fairing as well as they should be in the full sun.

In their place I added in a Cereus forbesii monstrose (in the rear right of tire), and an Escobaria missouriensis with lots of small babies (in left hand side), the Ferocactus latispinus (round spiny guy in front), three peices of mammillaria (seen on far right of pic), and a Euphorbia lactea cristate (back left).

The pic in the middle is the backside of the tire, or the side away from where I look out and see it from my kitchen window. I washed and replaced my sea shells as the top dressing, and I think it looks all smart, snappy and delightful once again! YEAH!!! Have a good new life all my little beauties!!!

Cactus Monday subjects

Happy Cactus Monday everyone! I am up with the little girl, early...while the rest of the house sleeps. Here are some early morning pics of some of my finest subjects!!!
First is the cactus I need to know how to make divide or make more branches. Should I trim a peice or two off the top and stick them in the pot??? Claude, I need you!!!

This big ugly monstrosity still delights my heart! Why? I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder! I REALLY need to repot this thing. If I don't go get some soil today, I think I will scream! Or cry. Yeah, that might work!!! If I don't get the soil, I will at least get a good cry! LOL. Ha.

OH...who is this cute thing????? Is she a princess???? How does this little sugar doll keep popping in here?

Well, look at this! I have a ton of new growth on this Topsy Turvy echeveria. I thought I could not keep echeverias going...but I believe I have about 3-4 different ones that I haven't killed yet...amazing!!!

Princess girl again? Concentrate on the beauty...not the dirty floor!!!! Eek!

Well, here I am again on what is still Monday...with a second Cactus Monday post! LOL. It just so happens I stopped by Lowes tonight after work and found a couple of plants...this first one is called Titanopsis calcarea, otherwise commonly called Concrete Leaf Living Stone, or Jewel Weed. It is very unusual looking and has a nice soothing shape. I can't wait to see it grow...it is in a very small container right now!


I posed these two new plants with my Buddha all dressed up for Fat Tuesday tomorrow! LOL. He makes a perfect backdrop!

This second succulent (a cactus, mind you), is called Cereus forbesii monstrose.

Cereus 'Ming Thing' is a very attractive monstrose form of Cereus forbesii. Forms myriads of sculptural blue shapes with very short black spines and woolly areoles. Excellent for windowsill or dish garden culture. Prefers shade or filtered light. It is fairly large specimen at this point...about 8 inches high! I love it...it is so odd looking...kinda like a bunch of melting candles fusing together if you ask me! I am so happy to be adding these two to my succulent collections!
