Cactus Monday, late again!!!

Sorry so late in posting everyone! I didn't get to post until after work, then dinner, and a walk, and, and, and...blah, blah, blah...anyway here I am at 10pm my time...and thought you would like to see a few things I took pics of on my walk tonight. Above were some beautiful hanging seed pods (from a palm tree).

Below is a very tall pachpodium...do you know which one? I think it is a Pachypodium lamerii. Am I right???

And some new growth of what looks like bunny ears, on a local opuntia. I wanted to find some that looked like Mickey Mouses ears, but these were all too tall.

I have been having heavy urges to do something artistic...a drawing with pencil. Maybe by this Sunday I can give it a go. I need to find a nice place to park and have lunch outside and draw. Hmmm...I will give that some thought.

Hope everyone is well. Have a wonderful week!
Julie

Yes, the urge to do something artistic is strong. I highly recommend drawing to make that happen. But I think photography is also very creative and expressive. Love your view from the camera. I have a touch of insomnia so even though you are several time Zones away, you are not late for me tonight. HCM, Judy

I think having lunch with a sketch-pad sounds wonderful... Of course, with my job, actually sitting down and having lunch anywhere sounds pretty awesome.

Wonderful Pachypodium. I'm pretty sure it's a lamerii, but it's hard to tell for sure.

Yes, grab your supplies and go out and sketch.

Do you still have company?

Hi Julie,

Beautiful Palm trees. Over the weekend while waiting for Hubby at Hertz rental car they had some palm trees that had some beautiful pods on them and of course I did not have my camera with me. : ( It would have made a nice photo too. Now I need to caught up with your blog. Have a great week.

Hi Julie
Oh my that first picture is gorgeous. How fortunate you are to grow such beautiful succulents...we sure can't over here. Lovely....

In answer to your questions about Alcatraz and the gardens no they didn't mention that in the audio tour. I saw some nice flowers growing in spots I didn't think they would but I didn't see any gardens as such. Perhaps they haven't started on that. The buildings really needed some help...

have a great day
Judi

Now here are some plants I'd like to see on one of my walks. I love pachypodiums but don't grow any because I don't like them when they are young and they couldn't get to an impressive size like the one in your pic.

Since you read my latest post you know I worry about weird things. One day I decided that I was going to move back to a climate that would allow me to grow huge cacti & succulents. One of the plants on the fantasy plant list was a pachypodium just like the one in this post.

Then I started to think about how it could one day possibly fall over and I get trapped beneath it and all those spines and die a slow blood letting death. So I abandoned my idea to move someplace where I could grow ginormous pachies.

So now I just admire them in pics like yours.
