I need craft organization!

My art stuff is all crammed into a 5 x 5 shelf in my backroom...and I can't find my Gesso in it! I am mad! It's in there somewhere...I need organization. I have so much crap in there and feel hopeless in getting it to a state where the grandkids can't get into it. (And where is my sandpaper)??? Do I need some sort of thing I can lock? Does anyone have a solution as far as young kids go...to keep them out? I already have a secretary full of stuff too...the drawers are heavy and they can't pull them out...maybe I just need another one of those! Please help with ideas, if anyone has any!!! Thanks.

Starting today, I am following a new challenge posted by Carla over at More Family and Flowers to end your post with something you are grateful for! I like that idea...so here goes!

Today I am appreciative of: my husband, grown children, their spouses, and my grandchildren! The loves of my life!

I have moved most of my art supplies into cupboards in my kitchen (having given bags of belongings I decided I didn't really use or need to Good Will store. How about putting child proof gadgets on the doors to keep the little kids out.
My five year old grand kids are pretty good at asking grandma permission for things to use from my art table and cupboard they can get into.

Aaron wasn't a problem when he was toddler age re. my art stuff but, probably since he turned seven, he seemed to have it in his head that my stuff was his art stuff too. I've gradually trained him by letting him have his own art/craft shelves and I have mine. The rule is that mine are only ever touched by him when we are crafting or painting together. So far, so good. As for storage, I think a cupboard with shelves and lockable would be ideal for you.

Btw, I received your card in the mail today....THANK YOU!!! I love those little chihuahuas on the front ~ :)

Organize your shelves and then make them off limits to little hands. It can be done. They are smart little people. Just give them boundaries.

My art stuff is mainly in an old wardrobe. I painted it pretty and it is in our dining room so I can access things easy and not have it look like plastic storage tubs. I also keep some things- cuz I have a ton of art stuff-- in picnic baskets and old luggage--vintage stuff. It isn't all grandbaby proof--but my grandbaby isn't here. If she were I could put a lock on the wardrobe--at least some of those plastic baby locks we used to use when our kids were little. They fit over the door handles as I recall.

That is always my problem too. I have way too much and need to donate some of it. I know there are items that I do not use any more. Next week I'm going to a scrapbook Expo and I hope I do not get in trouble there. : ) I hope to get into a few demo classes there.

A great way to end a post. I'm greatful for my blog buddies too and an another beautiful day here in Southern California.
Have a great day!!

Hi Julie,
Thanks for stopping by for a visit. I love succulents. Having moved from Tombstone, AZ to the coast of Oregon, I miss my warm outdoor temps but love the green of the forests here and the coastal smell and the rain. I have several succulents in my home and never tire of the variety that are available. At the online garden club that I belong to there is a great forum on succulents.

also a great one on strawbale gardening

This is a great online garden club and well worth the small membership dues. I have belonged to it for many years. I am known as gourdbeader at Daves. You will see several posting from me there in the ornamental groud forum as well as the strawbale and needlework forums.
Sorry about all the babbeling but just thought I would pass on info on a great informative site.
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by
