I guess I was always a mixed media fan!!!

Look at what I found in my Moms house! A card I had made for her. I must have made it as an early teen, I'm guessing. At first, I did not see all that I had combined to create this "extra special" card for my Mommy. It was surprising for me to find this.

I had taken a piece of paper, covered the front page with a floral tissue paper, then added a pink tissue paper heart I had cut out. Then added a cartoon. Went around the front edges of the card with a small decorative scissor cut, and then added gold glitter.

The inside had stickers on the left, and on the right side was a poem I had found. No author had been credited in my card, but I will search online to see if I can find out who wrote it. Here are the words, which I found to be so wonderful...and made me shed a tear or two when I read it.

God made a wonderful Mother,
A mother who never grows old.
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And he molded her heart of pure gold.
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see.
God made a wonderful Mother,
And he gave that dear Mother to me!

And on another note, how about this little feller that meets me on Moms front porch some mornings (especially rainy ones). I nearly sat on him twice...he is so camouflaged! Isn't he cute??? (Well...it's one of these "he's so ugly, he's cute" kinda deals)!!! :)

Oh Julie I bet that card brought a tear to your mother's eye when you gave it to her. She was very lucky to have you for a daughter!

I love the little albino frog too!
Sweet. Careful where you sit.

That is a very sweet card. I'm sorry I don't have the kind of relationship with my mom that I would feel comfortable with such heartfelt expressions of love. I mean, we're on good terms and she's not a bad person, but she's just never been the kind of mom who does all the nice, unselfish things those cards always talk about. :-/

Love your froggie. Don't you dare sit on him!

OH how lovely that you found this card you made for your Mum....a lot of sentiment there. I keep a lot of cards and knick-knacks that the kids made for me when they were in school. They sometimes spot them and make a happy comment - "Hey, I made that!". I think they are happy to see me hang on to things.

OH, he's not ugly at all...VERY cute!!

Have a lovely weekend,
Serena xo

What sweet memories. You have always been an artist. Amazing that that the little frog can camo itself so well against a white chair.

Julie that is so sweet. Thanks for sharing it with us. Going through your Moms stuff, it is probably making you go back in time. Items that you may have forgotten about. I went through that also with my Mom stuff too. I hope you find comfort. I hope you also get to plant those seeds. I planted the same type of zinnia and just loved the colors.
Blessings to you and have a wonderful day.

What a treasure. I can just imagine all the time and care you put into that. How cool your mom kept it. Awesome frog (I love frogs), looks albino. I can almost hear him say 'you don't see me you don't see me...'

Oh Julie, that is so sweet. No wonder your MOther treasured and kept it.
Isn't it fun to find something from the past to reintroduce you to a younger self. You have always been an artist, wonderful daughter and great Mom and Grandmom.
