A new green life!!!!

I got such a huge surprise today after work! At least, I should say it was a big surprise TO ME, anyway!!! I had a moon cactus like the one below (except it was hot pink on top)...and the top rotted off...strange, but true. That left the euphorbia stalk that it had been transplanted onto still there...so I took the pot and stuck it down on the bottom shelf where I put all my dead or half dead plants (ones that I've given up hope on)!

Well, today I was emptying some of the pots, to clean up for other plants, but when I pulled out the stalk of euphorbia, look at what was growing out the side! A new CACTUS (or could it be something other than cactus???)! It has very fine white spines...what do you make of it? Any ideas on what kind of cactus it is??? I must go out on the web and see if I can find any pics of one like it!!! I was so excited to see that a new life (completely new) came from this...WOW!

I have a mammallaria, a haworthia limifolia, and an aloe in bloom right now. It's spring in the succulent world too!!!

OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!

I got home from work just a few minutes ago, and as I was getting out of the car, I glanced over to a few succulents I have sitting on the side of my carport. I was just admiring them, and sort of petting them (I know, I'm sick)...when all of a sudden I saw IT out of the corner of my eye! What was it??? Can you see it below.

I had to run in and get a large stone to put under the stalk of the plant to hold this little bud up so I could even see it! It was so far down under and just sitting on top of the soil...I was surprised I saw it at all. Anyway, I propped it up and took pics...because now the Mystery Plant is about to show the world what her bloom looks like, and maybe we can identify it once and for all. I am so excited I could wet my pants!!! YEAH!!!! I will be watching this very carefully...and don't you know I have the weekend to really observe her so close so as not to miss it!!! The show of shows. Seems like I've been waiting years (OH YEAH, I HAVE)!!!!!

Look what I discovered this morning!

When I walked out my front door this morning, I discovered "You-know-who" in my plants flitting around! I ran in the house and grabbed my camera, and I was able to get one shot when she landed on my mystery succulent...then she was gone...(Click on her for a close up view)
