Someone a while back had asked me where they could buy a Flippin Flapjacks plant, and I cannot find where that comment was placed on my blog. I apologize for not answering right away, but time got away from me, and it never got done. Anyway...just want to say you can generally find them in any garden center...Lowes, Home Depot, Target, to name a few, or a locally owned garden shop that has succulents available. They are fairly common to see for sale. Don't be concerned if the one you find is all green, with no red...it will turn red once you get it out in full sun!
The other thing I just wanted to put out here is this great place to find old, out of print, and just a lot of books about succulents and cacti is called Half.com by EBAY. I just ordered three books here...I seem to gravitate toward collecting the older books. Another kind of collecting addiction, I suppose. Anyway...have fun!

Something to learn about...
Just a note to say I ordered two wonderful looking books from the library on Botanical Illustration, just to check it out. I should have them in 2 days or so. I enjoy looking at the pictures so much, I may just do that and give up on the idea that I could even possibly be able to draw anything...ever....

Check out this book!
I ordered this book on EBAY for a couple of dollars...and it arrived yesterday. What a surprise when I opened it up and found such beautiful full page color illustrations (with each succulents blossom as well). On the opposite side of each illustration is detailed information on that plant! The front of the book gives general information on succulents, their places of origin, how to grow info, their history, the importance and uses of cacti.
I highly recommend this book just for the color plates, and the rest is a delightful bonus! Click on pictures below for more detail:
