In random order...

It is after midnight here and I am wide awake! I think it could have something to do with the fact that I have tomorrow off! Gonna do some routine doctor appointments, then have lunch with daughter, and then take her shopping for some new clothes. It will be a fun day! I know I will not have to get up by 7am, so I am up doing laundry into the night...

Thought I would show you my otherworldly Huernia schneideriana (best guess, anyway). It has taken so long to get this many branches on it, and length of them...I can hardly wait for it to get as full as the plant I got the first cuttings off of about 6 years ago!!! You can see a little bloom up underneath...the blooms are always down low like that, which is not the best place for them. I miss half, because I never see them (until it is too late).

I brought my Huernia into the kitchen to photograph it, and noticed my two little angels that are always hanging around on my bulletinboard...are they not just so cute???

Here are some little artsy footprints made by my granddaughter, Georgia Ann when she was a baby...and they were turned into little bumblebees! Isn't that the neatest idea? I keep them on the refrigerator at all times!

And check this out. This pic I also keep on the refrigerator...it is my brother and I (he was 17, so I must have been...hmm...let's see....24)! I was living in Gainesville, Florida, and he came up to visit, and we just decided to have our picture taken with Santa...I'm so glad we did...this picture is a treasure!!! Don't you love the BIG glasses!!! LOL! It was around 1980.

On a last note, I will just share some beefs with you. I hate when people don't open packaging as it was intended to be opened! Like a box with a pour spout, and it gets broken...so is now deemed unusable. Cereal boxes and bags that are ripped into and made to not pour right or close EVER AGAIN! I hate bad drivers, and drunk drivers, and drugged drivers! Please get off the road. And, last but not least, I hate when you spend money and time making a recipe and it doesn't live up to your expectations! It happened this week. I made a peach kugel for an eat-in at work, and it was just boring...it smelled so good for the whole time baking ...a whole 1.5 hours!!! Oh well...

Thanks for listening...just a few little pissy things that have happened to me this week!

Have a happy Friday everyone!
xoxo- Julie

The Huernia schneideriana seems so healthy! Wonder what my plants will look like in 6 years time!

Great to see a photo of you and your brother - sweet!

Try again - your peach kugel might be better the next time around!

Take care, E

Well, I do have to work today Julie. I hope you enjoy your day off. Shopping and lunch with your daughter would be fun.

I love the picture of you and your bro on Santas lap. I have tried to get my kids to do that for me. I have a picture of them on Santas lap when they are little. I have always wanted one of them together as adults on Santas lap. It willnever happen now they live so far apart but...

Have a great weekend.

Hello from Sharon McNary in the KPCC newsroom at Southern California Public Radio. I'm hoping you'll take a few minutes to look at the features on our new gardens page at www.scpr.org/garden and to add your own garden story and a great photo for our slideshow.

I DO love big glasses. My mom says she misses them being in style. The frames are so little now, but back then she could see everything!

What is a kugel?
