Leaves

Teri, from Teri's Painted Daisies challenged us to try creating some leaves, which I did this morning at 5am, after being awakened by my little Doozey dog! Of course, she promptly fell back to sleep on the couch here next to me, while I am wide awake now at 7am! LOL. My leaves are just drawn and shaded with regular #2 pencil. I like my big maple looking leaf second best...my first best is the leaf in the top of the top picture! I was surprised at how much fun drawing leaves can be! I need to find time to do more, but it is hard for me to concentrate on it so completely as to do a semi-decent job!!! These leaves I found in 2 different books...not from nature. It is just starting to become light outside, so I was stuck looking in my books and magazines for inspiration!
Have a wonderful Saturday!

Great! I've been in the mood to draw lately too. I've been taking little photos of things on my walks and thinking--wouldn't this be pretty sketched on a little card? I think I'll do a little set of cards for sending to folks--put a sketch on each and have them ready to use. Fall leaves, mushrooms, flowers, ?? Fun!

Oh geez, blogger just ate my comment.

I love your leaves but that maple one is especially wonderful! Be careful because drawing leaves is so addictive :) from one how is!

Love all your patterns.

Your skills are improving with each drawing! I think all those botanical illustration books have rubbed off on you. BTW, the big, lobed leaf in the lower photo is an oak of some kind. Maple leaves are pointy (like on the Canadian flag.)

Julie i love that small cluster of leaves at the bottom of your second photo. I saw several of these while out walking yesterday and you captured them very good. All of your leaves a good. I must try some in pencil. Like Teri says it can be addicting. Be careful because if you try a haiku you might become addicted to them too.
