An art adventure after work today!!!

Yesterday, when I checked the mail, I had recieved two of these thin papered books (literally) from investment places, that they send out routinely and everyone throws in the trash, cause you can't read the jargon! I decided right then and there that I would try painting the pages with acrylics and then doing whatever I wanted to do artistically. Here is the book when it arrived:

And here it is after I painted the front page, and cut out stuff from magazines, and did a sort of collage-y thing. It was so relaxing, just freeing my mind and allowing myself the freedom of creating whatever I wished! I gave the other book to Donovan, and he started painting his too, but quickly lost interest.

Here is a little drawing I did when we went on a day trip and stopped at a really great Ale House restaurant. I had a Sharpie with me...(NEVER LEAVE HOME WITHOUT ONE)!!!!!! LOL. It was fun to do, and I am kinda attached to this little drawing for some reason, I can't bear to throw it away...maybe now that I have it on the blog, I can part with it!

Had a good day at work, got my name badge, my security badge, to be able to enter the call center, the parking garage, and the building. I got my computer passwords, and got my direct deposit set up! When I got home, the kids had been very good for my daughter all day, in good moods, and shortly they all left to go swimming at the kids house...so Grandma Julie got a little quiet time, and made dinner. Now I've got my feet up, and will rest till America's Got Talent comes on, and after thet it is bedtime again so I can rise again at 5am!
xoxo- Julie

Love the collage! We get those annual report things too, and I have never read one! I'm curious how you were able to paint and glue stuff on that thin paper and not have it all warped and buckled?

alway fun to read what you get up to. Good stuff, both of them.

Aaerelon- Thanks!!!!!

Cindy- the free corners of the paper did curl some after I painted the paper, as it dried. I kinda held it a little with my fingers, and afterward, I applied some of my cut designs on those areas to add weight, and it kept them flat! I am in love with this project...and the paint did not bleed through to the other side of the paper either...so I plan to use both sides of each page!!! My only regret now is that I have thrown so many away over the years that I wish I'd kept!

Evelyn- Thanks!!!

It's good to see that you put those annoying books to good use. I pick mine up from the pile of mail; tear off my name and address; and stick them in the recycle bin. Such a sad waste. jan

What a great collage you made. You really amaze me with your artwork. Now if those financial people could see how good their book could look!

You could frame the picture you made...its very interesting and looks so good.

nite nite...sleep tight

Judi- it's just dealing with medical information, the call center is sealed off, and you have to have access to get in. The main building is the same way, as well as the parking garage! It does make it seem much more secure as far as my car goes, and general safety! I am grateful. :)

What a great project! No wonder you're in love with it! We always just toss those books into the recycle bin.
Now I'll have to rethink that!

sounds to me that life is real good, shows in that delightful art. isn't it so true the busier you are, the more you do. and you are sure to sleep better now that you are working. so happy for you all round friend.

What a creative way to use those booklets. I always think of all the trees it would save if they didn't sent these out. I will have to journal on the next one that comes here. What would you design your "dream design" be? Love the sketch of your stop while out too. Isn't it amazing how fast we can fall into a work routine?

Lisa- I really have no idea what my dream design would be... LOL...I suppose it might be one that is ever changing with always a new one right around the corner!!! :) A very good question!!!

What a great idea Julie! You are quite creative and inventive. To do something like that makes you a real artist. And what a great way to use junk mail and have a great time.
