Lasagna Lover

Have you seen these lasagna pans by Rachael Ray? They are stoneware, 9 x 13, and come in many colors. I discovered them while searching a bridal registry at Bed Bath and Beyond. She does not have this on her list, but I found it on the website...I called the store 24 hour number at 2:30am this morning to inquire if I could add a gift from the store in with the registry items that will compliment this pan. They said yes...they could help me over the phone or in any store...so I am heading to the store this afternoon to make a customized wedding gift. She has a set of stainless steel lasagna serving peices on her list to go with it, and I am also adding some towels that she has on her list. I think it will be just about as perfect as it comes, don't you??? This is the color I would choose, but she will get the blue one with matching towels.

Oh, yes, I saw those pans on one of Rachel's shows a couple weeks ago. They are simply beautiful - and I covet them but have not been able to justify a need... yet...

Ok, this is NOT a comment about lasagna pans, but about your comment on Mr. Brown Thumb's blog.

Thanks, I think you WOULD enjoy Toad Cottages & Shooting Stars. I have faerie gardens, both large and small, special natural furniture and accessories for faerie gardens, etc. Trying to make gardening a wonderful voyage of exploration for children as I did in my Roots Shoots Buckets & Boots. Enough rambling. I am perusing your blogs. I'm a fanatical succulent and cactus grower too.

All joys to you,

I would choose the orange one as well...I think that would look good on the centre of the table.

How clever you are. I am sure the bride to be will love her gift!

I love that you buy what you want for the couple, but compliment it with what they asked for. That's a lovely compromise. I understand the practicality of a registry, but it seems so impersonal for the giver.

It looks perfect for lasagna! Great find Julie. Lucky bride.

The pan looks BEAUTIFUL but I see a couple practical issues with the design. I would be interested to see how it performs.

First, the beauty of the low anchor-hocking type pan is that it is pretty easy to get that first piece out. This one looks like that might be a challange.

Second, how do you put plastic wrap the leftover in a pa with sculpted sides?

Not resistant to change, just trying to figure out how the thing would work because I need one and I've been happy iwth some other Rachel Ray products, also in orange.

Hi Vickie! I am confused about the "first peice" you are talking about??? Secondly, I suppose you would have to put left overs in a smaller container anyway...at least I have to here cause there is never all that much left...but yes, I guess if you didn't have as many people to eat most of it, a regular 9 x 13 would be better. I think this is more of a serving peice that can be used to bake in...something a new bride might like to do with guests. You know Rachael Ray is all about fast cooking to table ideas! God bless her!!! :)

Hi Julie
Love that lasagne dish! I've never seen that one and she can use it for so many different casseroles also. I really like the way it comes up at the ends with the handle.
Blue is a great colour...I would go for the orange too. Sounds like a great gift...lucky her!
When is the wedding???
Have a great day..
Judi *hugs*

I also would love to have this pan! I like how it's all one piece for easy cleaning and that it has clever handles. I wonder how easily oven mitts fit into the handles and if Sugru could mod it for a cool grip.

I think a potential problem is if someone gets her the lasagna pan that's on her registry since it won't be signed off as already being purchased. I got a whole lot of Fiestaware gusto bowls because they were on my registry, but people bought them from all other different stores which left me with multiples of one color or another and no way of returning them. Similar things happened with other items. Other people decided what they thought I should have like coffee mugs when I don't drink coffee but have mugs anyway because they came with my Fiestaware sets.

One of my friends got married, had just purchased an old Victorian, and didn't have any tools on her registry, so I asked her if I could buy her a drill and other little bits. She gave me the green light and really liked her present. I don't think she realized that she could register power tools and stuff.

Since then I've realized that money is the best gift when it comes to weddings because there are always hidden costs in getting married, and cash can be used in lots of different ways from paying for cabs to buying trinkets on the honeymoon. It's not the most fun gift to give, but it's always appreciated.

Lasagna pans are incredibly helpful for things other than lasagna, and she might not know such a cool lasagna pan is out there. However, it might be more of a burden than a gift if she has to return it for one reason or another. Some of my wedding gifts had to be donated in the end which was quite a waste. I don't mind donating, but the donation could have gone further if it was being given in cash rather than a new item that had to be sold in a charity thrift shop.

Anyway!! That's just my 2 cents. I think cash is the easiest and most welcomed thing when it comes to wedding gifts. I think the lasagna pan could go either way. It could be super welcomed or a burden/waste. It depends on the bride and what other guests are purchasing.

Have fun at the wedding!! If you want to buy me the lasagna pan, I would love it! :-P

Hi Julie,
I have seen Rachael use pan on her show and they are really cool looking. She has great kitchen items out and the colors are neat too. Lasagna sounds good too. I think I will make that for the family tonight.
I hope the store will have another Copic class and They were surprised that it did not get enough people. The class always fills up. Maybe people are thinking of the holidays right now. But, I will be on the look out and I have been on YouTube for a few tutorials. I did try them out again last night and I need to buy lighter colors to go with the set.
Hope you get to buy some soon. have a great day and thanks for your sweet comment.
Blessings,
Bobbie Lynn

:) I do like this colour. Lovely, esp when filled with lasagna, steamy hot from the oven.

You know what i love anything Rachael Ray! That pan is awesome and I love the grips. Would make taking out of the oven so great. I get her magazine and actually tear out my favorite (will make) recipies and put them in a binder I have set up like a recipe book!

This color would go perfect with my house! Hee hee!
