New colorful homemade paper!!!

I got home from a hard days work, and immediately we left for dinner. The minute I got back home, around 7pm, I knew I had to try a new paper experiment. I had watched a YouTube video last night where the paper maker had added a piece or two of colored construction paper... well...that called my name subconsciously all day until I had to have a go at it!

I even did it at the table inside, rather than in a wheelbarrow outside! It all worked out and was much easier and cleaner. You can even see some letters in the white papers I put in. I think I blended it just the right amount of time to leave a little larger pieces of color in there.

I threw in a piece of red and a piece of orange construction paper, and one of those sheets had embedded silver sparkles. I threw in about 5 cups of shredded white paper from my shredder machine. After I ground it up in the blender (to a pulp), I added a handful of dried rose petals, which really added a lot of dimension.

These sheets are not completely dry yet...and it was hard to get a good clear shot of them...but they are really neat looking! I think I will try a few sheets with blue and green added, and a few with blue and purple. The sky's the limit on this! I am even wondering now how they would look made in to paper beads!!! That's next!

This is beautiful paper. I was thinking before I read a word of your narrative that it resembled the roses on your header picture. Little did I know they are in there. Wonderful!

Wow, these look really big. How big are they? (at first I thought it was all one huge, oddly-shaped piece. hee hee.)
Oh, and all of a sudden I have a craving for strawberry ice cream. I wonder why?

Hi Julie *hugs*
LOVE your paper. How exciting. Geez I wish I lived closer to you we could do some of these projects together....or at least I could watch you make stuff..*s*. I may have told you that I was going to try making some last summer...now I'll have to go to Youtube also and check it out. Great colours.

I have to tell you I got the syrup and they sent me a little moisturizer as well from your order. THANK YOU.. I am anxious to make something with it. I just got it on the weekend, on Friday when Marc came home. I'll be blogging about it this week.
Thank you!..
have a great day...btw...it is raining...it rained last night...yesterday...Sunday...Saturday...Friday...whew!

I've dragged out my paper art books lately too.:) Not much time for it but I was thinking of making paper and trying it in my inkjet. It has to be 'sized' so it can be printed on without absorbing the ink. You can spray or brush a starch mix on it--like a packet of gelatin to one quart of water--use that as a size solution. I'm wanting to do it--but as I said, not much time. :)

This is beautiful. What do you do with your handmade paper?

Cindy- these sheets are larger than the other ones I made because I tried a new technique with a larger piece of screen. They are about 10 x 10 inches.

Shannon and Teri- I am saving all my papers up to possibly create a journal with them all...I think at this time, it seems the most likely prospect!!!

Mary- thanks for the idea of brushing the gelatin solution on top of the paper...

Judi...you are so funny! I would be watching you create stuff!!!

Everyone- thanks for your nice comments!
