More clover????? Not sure.....

As I was waiting for a friend to have a test at the hospital, I stepped outside for some fresh air. When I sat down on some steps outside, I noticed all in the garden area these little round leaved weeds. Of course, I found them to be adorable! I have no idea what they are, but I know now they are definately weeds because I found them growing all in my neighbors grass yesterday while walking LullaBelle. I had grabbed this little handful from the hospital and placed them in a jar I had in my car. If anyone knows what this is, can you tell me??? Thanks!

Not clover. Nasturtiums. They are annuals, grow long trailing vines kind of like ivy, make nice flowers, and are edible. Their seeds are shaped like little brains.

Interesting that they grow like weeds out there. Know what's a big time weed out here? Oxalis- clover!

They remind me of nasturtium leaves, but I didn't think nasturtiums had such round ones. Very cute though!

Best way to tell if it's Nasturtium (that's what I think it is) is to taste it. That is, if you've tasted Nasturtium before and know what to look for. Otherwise, you may get poisoned!

Well...thanks for the info everyone! I think I like the idea of tasting it, but just not me!!! I would like to live a little longer! LOL! I've seen Nasturtium now online, and it sure looks very much the same...but I hear it is bitter, so I really have no urge to try it or eat it...so I will just have to be happy just knowing what it is!!! (In other words, I'm a big fat chicken)!

I'm looking at your picture again. Did you pull the plants out roots and all, or did they make all those roots after you picked them?

I went outside and tasted the nasturtiums in my yard. It's only a little bitter. (I used to feed them to Spike. She liked them.)

I pulled up the weeds with them...there were several root areas on each plant...with many branches of stems coming off...I can see that it was trailing in the dirt.

It sure looks like nasturtium to me. I love them! They're not bitter, just taste a bit spicy like pepper sort of. I like to put them on summer salads--flowers too. I had alot of them last summer, but they petered out in the heat sadly. :( Super drought made them just get raggedy eventually. I'm planting them again this year though. LOVE the agave!! A new plant for me to crave.

I think they might be dollarweed.
