I took my Mom over to see the iris blooms, and guess what we saw? Absolutely nothing! The blooms had dried up, and practically fallen off the plant! The gardener there said that the blooms were open ONE (1) day! She has 4 other types of Iris there, and said none of the others had bloomed yet this spring! I was more than bummed. I think this one thing just soured me on Irises!!!!! Sadly. I will keep watching the others and see what happens with them before I totally discount them! Blooms that last just one day would not be for me...unless I see a lot more action going on.....
I took a picture of this stunning rose for my blogger friend, Bobbie Lynn, who loves all roses! This one looks like it is made of velvet. I did absolutely no funny business to this rose with any photo editing software...it really looked just like this...color and all. Isn't it just so amazing???
Speaking of roses...how about this little Baby Sun Rose bloom of Aptenia cordifolia! Note the area of all white growth coming out of this variagated succulent too! This is an awesome plant, and I am about the grab me a little peice to see if I can have better luck keeping it alive after my first sorry attempt a few years ago! It seems to be so happy in the ground (mine had been in a pot). I was so enthralled with this area of white growth, I nearly missed the cute little button puff ball bloom in bright pink. Only one so far...but hopefully soon it will be covered!!!

That rose is really stunning.
If you are talking about the bloom on the Walking Iris, they only last a day, but mine bloom on and off for a month or more. There is a biblical story behind the Walking Iris. The Iris that I posted yesterday has been named 'Root Beer' and it smells just like it. The Succulent you have posted here with the pink puff bloom is called Mezoo. I like it as well. Mine is tyring to come back.
Good job with that rose photo. Too bad about the irises. You have so many things blooming in your area all the time.
in defense of iris, you will like them! I don't recall blooms lasting just a day, but its been a while since I had them. I do know they usually have lots more buds and the buds are very exotic looking as are the rhizomes--especially when you have clumps of them. Also the spiky leaves make a great backdrop for succulents! Do give them another look-see! I miss mine. :)
The pic of the rose is delicious! I want to eat it with icecream!!
Thank you for the Rose and wow that is a beautiful shade of red. I was looking at the roses at the garden center the other day and was thinking about getting another red rose. You put a smile on my face this morning. : )
Sorry to hear about the Iris but that is the down side of them. The blooms do not last long, but they are really pretty. On the Aptenia cordifolia, I have never see it in bloom. The is so sweet. have a great Julie and thanks again.
I comment on your comment on my blog....
Hi Julie
That is just so bad about the iris not being in bloom when you took the special time to visit them. Hmph. I didn't realize that about the Iris. Perhaps your not so warm weather for a while altered their growing times...
The rose is beautiful and does look velvety. I love the colour. The other plant has beautiful shining green leaves and yes you should take a little snippet so that you can keep it going.
Thank you for sharing and have a super day!
*hugs*
