Urn Plant, Silver Vase Bromeliad, Aechmea fasciata

I had several of these bromeliads oh, I would say approximately 5 years ago, and they had their gorgeous pink spiky blooms. So lovely. I just adored them...but then I sold out on them, and didn't want them anymore because of their shade requirements!!! My bad!!!

I gave them to my Mom, who was happy to recieve them, and she sat them under her banana tree, where they remain in the same pots all these years. She said they had made pups and I suppose maybe this is the first year she has had blooms again. She called me to come and see, so I had to take pictures. It made me feel like such a horrid plant mother...but you know, when Mom's aren't around, Grandmas will step up to the plate!!! :) Thanks Mom!!!

This is gorgeous. I had one of these before. They didn't survive unfortunately. My SIL has had one for years. They live in Michigan. They keep it in their family room during winter. It has often bloomed for them.

You're right.... my mom always takes out of bloom orchids off my hands and nurses them year after year, now her yard is full of blooming orchids! Mothers and grandmothers are always there to help out with plants :) Beautiful Bromeliad!!

Very beautiful! What a lovely shade of pink. I know what you mean, there are just a few plants that I cannot grow ( or don't want to ) so I will give them away or they die. Then afterward I feel bad for them. So I try to give them away. Amazing that these are living under your Mom's tree.
