What kind of tool, saw, etc. would be best to use to cut through a car tire??? I want to trim the upper edge of the tires off in my tire garden. I believe I read somewhere you can use an X-acto knife, but you have to keep changing the blades out just to cut one tire...I am thinking maybe a small hand held saw with teeney-weenie razor sharp teeth??? Let me know if you have any good ideas! Thanks...

Hi Julie, I've read that you can use a knife with a strong stiff blade, a hacksaw, or a machete. If cutting with a knife, to keep the knife from sticking, trickle some water on the rubber behind the knife.
I think the quickest way would be to use a utility knife, though like you mentioned, you'll probably have to get a few extra blades for the whole tire.
Thanks Donna...guess I better go ahead and try the blade...I have 4 tires to do though...yikes...hey...what the heck...I will just go for it!
What about a sawzall? Just be careful whatever you do! That sounds like the kind of job I would delegate to someone more experienced with tools (i.e. hubby)
That sounds so fun. I wish I had some more space for a tire garden of my own. Keep us updated with your progress. I'd love to see some pics of your tire garden when you are finished.
THAT saw looks awesome, Cindy!
I should see if I can rent one.
