A fun Saturday!
It is late on Saturday evening...oh, wait...it's now after midnight, which takes us up to Sunday morning! I am looking at my two sleeping grandbabies, and thinking they couldn't look more like angels! They came over this afternoon with their parents for a BBQ and I think we ended up wearing them out! As you see below, they played in the sprinkler and made bubbles and ran around for a hour. After dinner, my Mom and I took them both for a walk around the block. Emily walked. No stroller. She loved it. Donovan carried a Coleman lantern, to be our leader! We saw so many interesting things, including animals, the moon, a star, cars, trucks, sidewalks, etc! Such excitement!!! I am waiting to see if Emily sleeps through the night or not. I hope so. She needs to start doing this so her parents can get more sleep. She is almost 2, and they really deserve some sleep after raising the two kids to this point! I think they are just plain exhausted.

What a day!!!
The day here was spectacular! These kids are all worn out and have finally fallen fast asleep! My DIL and I took them to a pioneer day thingy with all sorts of steam engines doing all sorts of work. Of course, we got ice cream made by one of them! There was a petting zoo, and we had to walk a long trail into a really wonderful natural area to get to the spot where all the action was. Donovan saw a sawmill cut logs and move the sawdust out to a big pile, and boy, was he was enthralled! After we got home to my house, they played in a splash pool and ran around in the yard, played with chalk, etc...and then my son came over and we had BBQ chicken that he grilled for us. Have you ever tried Pierogies? Little mashed potato filled pasta pockets??? They are really fun, and very good. We had some of those with our chicken and brocolli. What a fun day! Lawsy!!!

Altered art book started by grandson, and Emilys art
I picked up my grands today at 1pm and we have played all day, of course! Donovan got to painting his altered art book...just the start of the front cover. It will be a collaborative effort on both our parts, which will be really fun!

He loves to cut and paste! Pay no attention to all that art crap piled on the shelves and table behind...there seems to be no good way to organize it until I can aquire some containers, etc!

Meanwhile Miss Emily is drawing with her pencils...under the close, watchful eye of Grandma Julie.

Check out the exacting details of this drawing!!!

Healthy family and cactus too!
The little family (my son's) is all well and healthy again! Thank God! They all look so beautiful to me, I could cry! My son snapped these pics tonight with his new I-Phone, and they are so sharp and pretty! (Great subject matter)!!!

Emily June with her daddy, and Donovan below with his new lightsaber!

My son made us some delicious grilled chicken tonight, and we added a few side dishes, and had some cheesecake for dessert! They had come by in the morning and ended up hanging out with us the whole day today!!! Talk about lucky!!! I loved having the grads here...oh goodness...sheer happiness! What a great start to a three day weekend!
I had only found out (or come to the realization) that I was off on Monday, at around 4pm Friday...towards the end of my work day. Boy, talk about a nice surprise!!! And talk about surprises...look at what I saw out the corner of my eye when I got home yesterday! Growth on the cactus pad I had taken from the cut down prickly pear! It seems to have come out of nowhere! It was just sitting there for such a long time (months)...and now we see such good progress! I am elated! It is a spineless variety and soon I will have quite a plant right at my front door! The little projections you see all over it are actually little soft leaves! Yee-Haw!!!

Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
