DIY: Hillbilly Slip N Slide!

On Sunday we took the grands and family to the park after lunch, and right after we got there, it started to rain. My daughter remembered reading about how to use plastic tablecloths to make a slip n slide! I had several, so she pieced them together kinda running downhill, and put the hose at the top. She had used wooden skewers to secure them, but found later that they stayed with ends overlapping just as well without using anything. The weight of the water going down aided in holding it together. Just make sure that you have the ends overlapping properly to make a smooth slide downward. The kids wrapped in large plastic bags (supposedly to make them slide better), but later found that they slid better without them. If you might be wondering about bathing suits, we found they had outgrown their previous years ones, so they just wore their clothes...eventually losing most of them in the process. It was hilarious, and it provided hours of entertainment. I think they were fairly worn out that day from all the fun!!! This will be a repeat activity all spring and summer!!!

I always think this looks like fun. I have tried it and it hurts when you are my size and trying to flop down there to slide. :/

Very inventive and lots of fun! When my kids were little we lived by a park with a fairly steep hill and in the summer when the grass dried out they would slide down it on sheets of cardboard. Dried grass can be pretty sippery! They loved it.

Great idea! The kiddos look like they had a great time...the garbage bag is too cute!

Our kids used to do that Julie, and had such a lot of fun. Couldn't do it now with the cost of water here now and restrictions.
